Two words: cold season! Remember my last blog where I talked about how great Fall is for its wonderful aesthetics and cozy vibes? Yeah, well, I forgot to mention the layered-up elephant in the pumpkin spice coloured room — getting sick!
Whether you like it or not, getting sick around this time of year is an unavoidable autumnal occurrence. Of course, coming down with anything hits a lot different nowadays because, you know, COVID. Honestly, I’ll admit I used to be the type that would sneeze and send myself into a panic but these days (thanks, double vaccine!) not so much. That’s just me though — I feel like we all still have a fear of coughing in public so as not to freak out the people around us. Good times!!
Anyways, while getting a cold is not the end of the world, it’s also not enjoyable whatsoever, so I try to do my best to prep myself for the germ-pocolypse that hits in October through December. Believe it or not, boosting your immune system before the cold season will actually help prevent you from getting sick. I find that we are always talking about all the remedies for when you’re already sick, but I’m a proactive gal. So, even if you’re in tip-top shape, here are some great things to incorporate into your lifestyle this Fall (beyond sweaters and scarves) that will boost your immune system.

- 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar
- 1 teaspoon of turmeric
- 1 tablespoon of lemon juice
- 1 sprinkle of grated ginger
- 3 tablespoons of water

Now, I don’t mean to sound like your mom but now is the time to take care of yourself this season! Get some sleep, make sure to exercise, drink plenty of water, and (this one is hard, actually) do not let yourself get overrun with stress. Being stressed out is the number one killer of the immune system, so try and squeeze in some healthy downtime and meditation amidst your busy life. I feel you, girl, it’s not easy — but it’s very important! I have to remind myself daily.
