3 Ways To Spruce Up Your Home For Summer

I can’t believe I’m finally saying this, but summer has arrived! As a home decor enthusiast, I am constantly looking into seasonal trends and figuring out how to incorporate them into my own space. I’m not talking full-on renovations here because, let’s face it, updating your home every season is not a financially sustainable hobby (oh, and I still rent). A little change can go a long way and can be super affordable (and fun!) if you do it yourself.

A new season brings about an opportunity for an energy shift, so why not reflect that in your space? A little sprucing up of your home can completely shift the vibe and create the feeling of a fresh, new beginning. I can’t be the only one that finds home projects therapeutic, can I?

Hopefully, some of these tips resonate with you and you can incorporate them into your own sanctuary! Otherwise, social media is full of endless inspiration for home trends and DIY tips. Honestly, if you find more, send them my way!

In the meantime, here are 3 of my favourite ways to spruce up my home for Summer!

1. Add Some Greenery

Who doesn’t love fresh greenery? A big summer trend is moving less towards florals and more for greens, which can be super expensive at your local florist. Take some time to find some in your own backyard, you’ll be surprised at what you can put together! Caution though that it might be eaten right away if you have cats (my gals are obsessed).

2. Declutter

Fall and winter are all about cozy accessories (candles, blankets, etc.) but summer is the time for minimal, open space. Spend a day gathering all the little trinkets that are on your shelves, tables, and even hidden in your drawers, and free up some surface area around your home! Nothing says “hello summer!” like room to breathe in your own home. “Alexa, play “Wide Open Spaces” by The Chicks”.

3. Add fresh coats of paint

Take advantage of the warm summer breeze, open up the windows and get your painting on. Over the course of the year, we don’t even notice how our white trims can become less vibrant. I’m always down to put on my favourite records, pour myself a glass of wine, and touch up some spots to make my space feel more open and bright (I’ll do this in your home though as I rent and I can’t find the spare paint cans for my house). Feeling adventurous? Add a pop of colour to a wall!*

*Disclaimer: do not make this decision after more than two glasses of wine.
